Sweet Dreams

I popped onto the ZGallerie site this morning to check out their home accessories for one of my projects and of course couldn't help but swoon over everything.  I've been obsessed with them since I lived just blocks away from their store in San Francisco.  Apparently, I like to torture myself by looking at things that will absolutely NOT be mine anytime in the near future, like this yummy mirrored buffet that I think I neeeeeeed so bad but have absolutely no use nor space for.  Anyway, once I got over the buffet, I came across the most amazing headboard EVER.  Turns out they have a whole collection of new ones and they are oh-so-good...

Favorites for Fall

It's officially fall and that means time to transition your home and your wardrobe to incorporate cozy pieces, rich in color and warmth.  My favorites for home include a brown furry blanket, which I'm literally attached to whenever I'm lounging at home, as well as a wonderful scented candle.  I also have an apothecary jar that I fill according to the season, so it's usually cranberries at this time of year.  My go-to pieces for my wardrobe this time of year are of course a great pair of riding boots, skinny pants (cords, denim, leggings), a cozy knit sweater, a cape and statement accessories in muted colors.

Sunshiny Day

We had some intense rain here yesterday, which lasted all night and through the morning.  I don't mind the rain when I can cozy up inside, but when it affects my ability to get things done it is such a drain.  Plus, the rain is a total inconvenience when you have a 10 month old puppy who wants/needs to get out and play.  Thank goodness the sun is finally peeking through the clouds, but these sunny images are also doing a pretty good job at brightening my day.

What I Wore: Wool Mini Style

I recently snagged this adorable mini from H&M.  It is seriously so insanely good...perfect camel color for fall.  I'm planning on pairing it with everything from tights and pumps to riding boots and pointy toe flats.  I tested it out Monday at work with my black riding boots, a cream silk shirt with black piping and simple accessories.  Here's the look...

The Dark Side

I recently started helping my friend Shannon in decorating her home.  She has some fantastic pieces but just doesn't know how to bring everything together.  One of the spaces we are focusing on is her kitchen, which is so close to being absolutely perfect.  She has already replaced her counter tops with butcher block slabs and they look incredible.  She also has some amazing accessories, like Anthropologie's mini Ikat bowls and such.  We picked up a little striped rug this past weekend, which Shannon said works perfectly in there.  So, really the only thing we have left to address are the cabinets and hardware.  I'm heading over there today to compare paint samples for the cabinets, but we've already decided on something dark, like a really deep slate or navy.  I know this is a highly discussed topic in the design world, but in looking through my inspiration folder, I started swooning over these rich, bold spaces all over again.

Ah, so good! Hopefully we can decide on a color today and I can share the finished product with you next week!

Back in Action/AllSaints

Okay, so I never intended to take a 2+ month hiatus from this blog, but once I let a week slip by and then a month slip by, it was hard for me to get back into it!  My life has changed so much in the last six months that I was adjusting to a move, a new full time career on top of my decorating/design projects and a new puppy!  Needless to say I was juggling a lot and the time, energy and inspiration just wasn't there.  But I'm totally ready to get back into the swing of things.  Going forward, I'm still hoping to post multiple times a week, but it might not be Monday-Friday.  Also, you'll probably see more of a balance between design AND fashion, since that is what I'm immersed in these days.

So, this past weekend I took a little day trip down to Chicago with two good friends.  We did a ton of shopping, some for our homes and some for our wardrobes.  We had a mission to hit up the new Topshop and on our way there we popped into AllSaints...and about freaking died over EVERYTHING because it's the most amazing store ever (never mind the fact that the dress I was dying to take home was almost as much as one month's rent).  However, I really see some of their more practical pieces as good investments.

Okay, so clearly everything is in a neutral color palate...shouldn't be much of a surprise to some of you. :)  But, honestly, the most amazing pieces in the world, right?!?  Check out the entire collection online here...
