Obsessing Over: Robert Abbey

I'm totally obsessed with Robert Abbey Lighting and currently cannot get enough of their colorful, glossy gourd lamps.  Jonathan Adler is the designer behind these fun, mod creations for Robert Abbey.  To me, everything Jonathan touches turns to gold, so it makes sense that I can't get enough of these babies!

Aren't they fun!
They remind me of the lamps that Palmer Weiss often uses in her designs...

Milwaukee Art Museum, Bringing Sexy Back

My sister recently shared an article with me from Reuters that featured the 10 sexiest buildings in the world and guess what was number ONE on the list - The Milwaukee Art Museum!  It's not often that Milwaukee (my home town) gets recognized for being sexy.  Don't get me wrong, Milwaukee is a great place with some fantastic restaurants,  up and coming clothing boutiques and more.  However, being recognized at the top of a list for something other than the cream puffs at State Fair is rare.  A few years ago, I photographed the museum, designed by Santiago Calatrava, for a light study that I was doing in my interior design studio.  Here are some of my photos.

Pretty sexy, huh?  Honestly, for those of you who have never seen it in person, these photos don't do it justice.  Plus, the view over looking Lake Michigan is absolutely stunning!  I know some of you live in the Chicago area, so I highly suggest a day trip to Milwaukee to view this beauty and check out what else the city has to offer.  :)

Style Compass: Guest Room

If any of you are familiar with 1stdibs, you have probably seen their weekly feature called style compass, which highlights the work of artists around the world.  The photo below is from a style compass series (and I can't remember the designer) and features a Guest Room at The Tides South Beach.

I recreated it with some great finds.  My version has more of a French vibe than a South Beach one...

As always, click on the link under the set to view details!

The Sartorialist

So what is more important, fashion or style?

I'm sure that most of you have heard of The Sartorialist.  Scott Schuman is the man behind the blog and has been documenting street fashion on The Sartorialist for 5 years now.  In a recent post, Scott proposed, "So what is more important, fashion or style?"  What do you think?  I personally think that style is by far more important.  Style is about expressing who you are, whether it graced the runways that season or not.  Plus you will be fashionable if you have style, but you might not have style just because you wear what is in fashion...  I love Scott's ability to capture incredibly stylish people all over the world that fire up the creativity in us all.
